I’m sure the inventor of the cell phone didn’t anticipate that they would become the single most irritating device since the Chinese finger puzzle. But nevertheless, here we are. Every day I encounter scores of addicts, and believe me, it is an addiction, like meth or Starbucks (but that’s for another day.) They can’t fathom being disconnected for the 7 minutes they wait for the bus. It can be 29 below outside (and around here it often is) and they’ll still be dialing or texting.
